Frazer, S M) A STRAYING ITOKSE A man named Joseph Taylor was charged with having, on 30th June last, permitted a horse to be at large in Panama Road. The defendant, who had pleaded not guilty at the last sitting of the court and had been granted an adjournment, now entered a plea of guilty, and w«s fined lOs, with 7s costs. UK EACH OF PROHIBITION OKDKR A woman, who did not appear to answer a charge of procuring liquor during the currency of a prohibition order, was convicted and fined £2, with 7s costs. MILITARY SERVICE ACT George Alexander Dean was fined 10s and 7s costs for a breach of the Military Service Act, in that he failed to no'ify a change of address to the Government Statistician within 14 days. A PLUMBER PROSECUTED John Sinclair Irvine was charged with having undertaken sanitary plumbing work without being licensed under the Plumbers' Registration Act. Inspector Stewart appeared for the Public Health Department.
The defendant was convicted and fined £2, with 17s costs, the Magistrate remarking that the proceedings were brought iu the interests of the health of the community, and that unlicensed plumbers would have to expect heavy lines in future if they continued to undertake sanitary plumbing. CIVIL i ASES On the civil side of the Court, judgment by default was given for plaintiff in the cases of J. Whitten v A. 11. Findlay, for Is, with •'is cost*, and of J. Whitten v. F Boakes, £1 3s OJ, with Gs coses. A number of other civil claims were confessed or paid into Court.
At the Baptist Church on Tuesday of last week a social was held as a farewell to the Pastor, the Rev S. J. Maiden, who is leaving for Morrinsville. Captain Simpson (Salvation Army) prcs-ded, and Mr J. Morriss, on behalf of the Church, presented the Kev Maiden with a travelling bag and Mrs Maiden with an afternoon rea set The Kev Maiden suitably expressed thanks for the gifts. Refreshments were provided and served by the ladies Mr Fred Hunter, son of Mr J. Hmiter, of Otahuhu, who entered tli'i postal and telegraph depart-m-r.t a few years ago, has latt ly been appointed relieving officer for the Auckland Province. It is interesting to learn that in addition to qualifying as a telegraphist Mr Hunter, jun., has also obtained a certificate qualifying him as a wireless operator. A very peculiar freak of nature recently came undor the notice of Mr T. Rothwoll, veterinary surgeon of Otahuhu, when he was called to attend a cow on calving. On examination he found a largo ball of flesh and bones with three legs loosely attached on the one side. On the other side was the head and just behind the ear were the tail and the posterior organs.
