PAPAKURA
PAPAKURATOWN BOARD A special meeting of the Papakura Town Board to amend the Sanitary j by-law was held in the Board's office on Wednesday last There were present Messrs it. M. Gillespie, P. Holt, T. H Markwick, W. Richardson, T. D. Campbell, H. Lin.strom, and H. Lloyd, with the Clerk (Mr H. W. Geissler) Some discussion ensued over the suggested alteration of the by law, Mr Holt suggesting that the Board should endeavour to 'battle through' as at present, especially as the bylaw had only recently been brought into existence. The Chairman pointed out that the simplest course to pursue was to amend the by-law and then it would be for the Board to say who should be exempt. A resolution to that effect was then timed. The Chairman then took advantage of the quiet gathering to read a "homilv" to the members of the Board, pointing out the dignity appertaining to the position of public men and asking them all to settle their differences outside the Board and to meet there with one common purpose as ratepayers' representatives.—Each member spoke in reply, and agreed that the suggestion made by the Chairman was the proper course to follow in future.—The Chairman said there had undoubtedly been many misunderstandings between the various members, but for the good of the Board and the district generally he hoped that there would be more harmonious working.
