(See also page 1.) Recent sales effected through the agency of Messrs L. J. Mills and Co. include Mr Herbert Wood's farm of 1(17 1 acres at Rama Rama at £34 per acre and Mr J. T. Aspden's farm of 30 acres at Manurewa at £ 150 per acre. The firm also report a steadily increasing demand for local properties. Under the chairmanship of Mr D. W. Jones a very interesting gathering of members of the Literary and Debating Society and friends took place in the Methodist Hall on Thursday last, when a paper was read on "Tennyson" by the Rev T. F. Jones. The essayist de.ilt with the historical associations of the great poet in a scholarly way and his apt allusions to personal matters connected with Tennyson's life served to provide additional interest Miss E. Johnson sing "Sweet and Low," Mrs J. Seaton gave a reading "The Children's Hospital" (Tennyson) ; Mrs J. Wylie rendered a pianoforte solo "The Brook," and Mr J. Murray contributed a recitation "The Charge of the Light Brigade." Altogether the function was a success and those who contributed in various ways were thanked for their assistance.
