OTAHUHU

The death occurred on Friday last of an old and respected resident of Otahuhu in the person of Mr Joseph James Pike, who for a number of years had. managed the Westfield works of Messrs R, and W. Ltdi Iph% t who was 70 years of age, took a keen interest in every form of sport and was always ready to help in a case of necessity. He had been in indifferent health for some months past. The funeral took place last Sunday afternoon at Waikumete cemetery, the remains being followed to the graveside by an exceedingly large number of mourners. The undertaking arrangements Were carried out by Mr Jas. Mclvoh The death "killed in, action" is reported by the Defence Department Of Lance-Corpl. G. H. Meder, whose next of kin is Mr H. Meder, of Otanuhn.
