TUAKAIJ TOWN BOARD The usual monthly meeting of the Tuakau Town Board was hold on Tuss'lay last. There were present Messrs Dynes Fulton (Chairman), W. Pirritt, J. IT. Craig and W. Barnaby with the Clerk (Mr A. 11. Tapper". WT'IXG OX FOOTPATH A letter complaining of the practice of riding on footpaths was roceived from Mr C. M. Osborn, who asked that steps should bo taken to remedy tho evil. The Board recognised that much damage was done by such wrongful u*e of the footpaths and on the motion of the Chairman it wa6 resolved to prosecute offenders. HiRTfISVIT.Ln ROAD Application was made by Mr 11. T. Acton for a crossing in front of kis house on H.arrisvillo road.—lt was decided to accede to the request on condition that the cost was b«rne by the applicant.
LEWF. OF ABSENCE Mr W. Glasgow in a letter to the Board asked for leave of absence on account of ill hoalth.—The Board resolved to grant two months leave of absence. I'ocxn A tender to carry out the work of the proposed Pound was submitted by Mr W. W.odbridge together with plan but the consideration of tho same was deferred. Mil OUA HAM'S RE--ir.X.\TIOX A letter was received from Mr W. G. Graham tendering his resignation as a member of tho Board by reason of his illhealth.
Expression of the good work done by Mr Graham was made by the Chairman and other members and the resignation was accepted with regret and tho clork was directed to convoy to Mr Graham the Board's appreciation of his faithful services as a member and to expross the regret of the Board tho roason for such resignation. The Clerk was authorised to make tho necessary arrangements to fill tho extraordinary vacancy created by Mr Graham's resignation.
HETAr, It was decided to order from Auckland three trucks of metal for Henderson road footpath and six trucks for other roads and footpaths. ryder's road Tho question of providing footpath accommodation on Ryder's road was deferred until the Engineer's visit.
At tho meeting of the Tuakau Women's Patriotic League held on Thursday, August 9th, Mesdaraes Hunter and Dynes Fulton were appointed to act as local delegates at tho meeting of the Auckland Women's Patriotic League «onvened for Friday the 24th August. The Rev Gow, of Waeronga, who has been temporarily occupying the pulpit of the Presbyterian Church during tho absence of the Pastor the Kev W. Buttorworth preached again on Sunday last. The Rev W. Buttorworth is expected to occupy the pulpit on Sunday next on return from his holiday vacation.
Among those recently reported wounded and admitted to hospital appears the name of Pte Abraham Clark, son of Mr W. Clark of Tuakau. Pte Clark was attached to the Otago infantry.
