PAPATOETOE
[The Papatoetoe Agent for " The Times " is Mr W. J. Dil worth from whom copies of the paper may be ordered.] SCHOOL TEACHER FAREWELLED. A very pleasant little function was held in the School-room on Wednesday afternoon last whan a presentation was made to Miss Foster, who is leaving Papatoetoe to take up her duties at Te Papa. The scholars in her classes provided a concert as a prelude to the presentation and a dialogue entitled " Fairyland/' acted in costume, greatly amused the children. Messrs James Hunter and W. J. Dilworth attended on behalf of the School Committee and the former, in 4 asking Miss Foster's acceptance of a handsome leather writing-case, expressed his regret that the district was losing the services of so capable a teacher. During the two years in which she had been connected with the school she had, he said, gained the respect and confidence of both parents and children. He wished to inform Miss Foster that practically every faixily in the district had contributed to the presentation, a fact that spoke of the parents' appreciate of har efforts. He wished her to accept the little token of esteem and hoped all would be well with her in her new sphere of labour. Mr H. P. Andrew, Headmaster, referred to how much he and the staff felt Miss Foster leaving the school During her term she had carried out her duties faithfully and had given entire satisfaction, gaining the esteem of every child in the school. The Rev. Chas. Porter, in a few well-chosen words, expressed his regret that the district wore losing the services of so capable a teacher. The children, he stated, had learned to love Miss Foster and he hoped she would find her new surroundings pleasant and profitable. Miss Foster, in reply, thanked the parents and children for the valuable present. She regretted leaving the school at the half year for the children's sakes, but after the many expressions of good-will she would go away much happier than she had expected.
