FANCY DRESS BALL Puni Hall was a scene of anima* lion on Thursday last when a fancy dress ball was held at which there was a crowded attendance. There were about 26 competitors for the costume prizes and the dresses were models of the designer's art, s<>me showing much originality, while the comic element was not lacking. The task of the judgesi(Mrs Keane and Mr J. N. Massey) in awarding the pr'ze f'.r tlio best fancy coatumo was bj no n.eans a light one, the winners being Miss Hilda L r ckley (Negress) and Mr J. Black (Bride) in their re sections. Dance music was supplied by Mrs Keune and extras were played by Mr J. Brown (Pukekoha) and Mr J. Roberts. Mr R. Fulton ably carried out the duties of M.C. Special mention should be made of the Highland dancing by Miss Gwen Fulton, which showed careful training and was much appreciated. Supper was served by the ladies in Puni's characteristic good style, and dancing was kept up until the early hours of the morning.

Twidle (Welsh Girl), S. Glover (Queen of Hearts), N. Stuart (Lady Archer), P. Cave (Sailor Lass), McCarthy (Milk Maid), McWatt (Topsy) and Mrs Bosson (Gipsy). Gents : Messis J. Black (Bride), 8. Marshall (Baby), L. Wilson (Negro), W. McWatt (Clown), —. McWatt (Clown), li. Fulton, jnr. (Sailor), C. Fulton (King of Hearts), C. Dazeley (Charlie Chaplin), A. Adams (Cardinal), J. Townsend (Admiral), C. Walker (Jockey), C. Goraghty(Bowler), D. Irwin (Tramp\ W. Adams (Mephistopheles), R. Fulton (Parson).
A reminder is given of the social to be held in the Puni Hall next Thursday evening under the auspices of the Women's Patriotic League in aid of the Soldiers Xmas Gift Fund. The organisers are the Misses N. Stuart and S. Glover.
