EAST TAMAKI.

A most successful concert, under the auspices of the Patriotic League, was heM in the Public ITall on Tuesday of last week Ib.-pite the inclemercy of the weather there was a crowded house and the numerous items were well received, encores being numerous The artists journeyed from Auckland and a tirst c'as-i programme was rendered. Mr Mc Combe (comedian) greatly amused the audience with his Scotch ditties and banjo solos by Mr Percy Chamberlain were well received. Songs were rendered by Misses "Walker, Daisley, Stubbs, Shirley, Harrison and Messrs Will Harri . and E. W. Lewis, and an exhibition of fancy dancing was given by Mdlle Anita Webster and Mdlle Kuio Harrison. At the conclusion of the entertainment the National Anthem was sung, after which the hall was cleared for dancing v, hich was kept up till tho "wro audi hours." Music was supplied by Mrs MoCardle and Mr James White and supper was provided by the ladies. The nett proceeds of the function < n re to be donated to the Women's Mutual Aid Society's " Soldiers' Comfort Fund."

At the last mealing of the East Tamaki lioad Board a motion of condolence was passed with Mrs Preston, whose son was killed in action at the battle of Messines.
