Government Measures.
| To tiie Editor] Sir,—At the last Farmers' Union conference held in Wellington the proposal to reduce the Income Tax exemption was turned down. I think this was a mistake. I consider all incomes over a living wage should be taxod viz., £2OO for a married man and £IOO for unmarried persons of both sexes Why should the married and single be taxed the same and allowances made for a paltry family of live children ? Why not allow for an unlimited quiver full ?
Our Government when asked to adopt commonsense measnres towards aliens plead International law Germany subscribed to those laws, but from the tirst day of the war she has broken every law human and Divine. As we have to deal with fiendish. Huns who only recognise force, why cannot our Government establish a new precedent and make fresh laws adapted to our present circumstances and protect us in our own country.—l am, etc., W.R. Bombay, 11th August, 1917.
