Wake Up, Clevedon!
To T!'F. EniTOTl] Sir.—ln reply to Mr Munro's last letter I should like to criticise a few statements lie made in his effort to mislead your readers His reference to the local fund was particularly misleading as I had not any doubt about his and his colleagues' eflorts in the direction of helping to raise the said fund. Th<? point I raised quite plainly was that it would have been lost to us as a local fund only for the firm stand taken by certain gentlemen. As regards Irs suggestion about decrying one's district as spiteful that is too paltry for words. Our friend is a very noted critic of the place and not a century ago he was making public speeches in the hall on the supposed shirker in our little town, which I am sure will not easily be lost to memory by some of us. He also mentions " gas." That is very fitting, as ho always seems to have a lot to give away. The familiar phrase of not signing one's name for want of pluck seemeij very helpful to him to fill up his letter. lam sure it would have been very pleasing to all if Mr Munro had confined himself to the answering of the facts that the croaker's letter contained. In conclusion I will remind our model committee that Private Jerry Murtagh went back to camp from final leave last week while they were still asleep, or was it only au oversight on their part' —I am, etc., Survivor or Dust Storm.
