ALFRISTON-BROOKBY
TtlE ALIEN MENACE^ There was a largo assembly at the war anniversary meeting on Saturday evening last in tho Alfriston hall when, on tho motion of Mr F. M. Allen, who presided, seconded by Mr D. A. Reid, a resolution was enthusiastically passed relative to the community's determination to see the war through to a victorious end.
A considerable discussion followed on the (]ae3tioa of Alien subjects being allowed to tal. e up land in any form whatever, either by purchase, lease or occupation. Mr H. Moody moved the following resolution, the same to be forwarded to the Prime Minister, viz: "That in the opinion of those hoav assembled to commemorate the anniversary of the declaration of war with Germany it is regrettable to know that Alien subjects are acquiring the farms of some Xew Zealanders who have gone to tho front, and are losing no opportunity to take every advantage to the detriment of the Dominion, and this meeting suggests that no further naturalization papers be over issued to Alien subjects, thus keeping New Zealand for her own sons and truo Allies." Mrs Wedding seconded the motion which was carried unanimously.
