FRANKLIN A. & P. SOCIETY

Meeting of Executive. The first meeting since the annual meeting of the executive of the Franklin A; and P. Society was held on Friday last in the Borough Council Chambers when there were present Messrs J. N. Massey (Acting Chairman), A. P. Daysh, J. Jlenneliy, J. W. Johns, J. H. Webb, A J. Melville, F. Perkins, A. B. Barter, J. Roulston, J. A. Moore, J. Wylie, S. J. Murray, with the Secretary (Mr J. M. Baxter). RAILWAY SECTION. Some discussion took place over the retention of the railway section leased as an office site. Mr Barter, it will be urged at the annual meeting that steps should be taken to dispose of the land. The same speaker again pointed out that it was absurd at the present state of finances to retain the section. Mr Perkins also shared the same view and it was ultimately decided that a sub-committee consisting of Messrs A. B. Barter and J, Wylie should deal with the matter and report at the next meeting.

LIVE sroC'K GIFTS. It was due to the initiative of Mr Wylie that a gift auction is to be held and he undertook to canvass the district for calves feeling sure, he said, that he could secure 100 for this purpose. Several promises of stock were made in the room and Mr Wylie was thanked for his offer to help in this direction. The Society will welcome gifts of any class of live stock and it is confidently anticipated that a large number of farmers will donate one or more animals for disposal and thus help the Society. OLD SHOW GROUND On the motion of Mr Johns, Messrs Massey, Wylie and "Barter wore appointed a committee to make arrangements for the grazing lease of the old show ground for the ensuing twelve months. x MONTHLY MEETINGS It was decided to hold future meetings on the Friday in each month nearest full moon.
