OTAHUHU

[The Otahuhu Agent for " The Times" ia Mr Bathe, from whom copies of the paper may be ordered. Mr Bathe is also authorised to receive advts. and printing orders on our behalf. | A concert is to be given by the Auckland Male Choir in the Otahuhu Public Hall on Thursday, August 16th, in aid of the Wounded Soldiers' Fund. As showing the uses of the modern motor cycle an ingenious travelling saw and scissor grinder was seen in Otahuhu mounted on the platform attached to his motor cycle. The grindery wheels were propelled by his feet similar to an ordinary cycle. This, though a simple device, enabled the mechanic in question to expeditiously grind any articles in front of the customer's shop and to move from place to place with his cycle rapidly. Private F. G. Havill, who it is reported died of wounds received in action recently, was born in Otahuhuhu and attended the local school there. He was also a member of the No 2 Native Rifles before the inauguration of the Territorials and subsequently occupied the position of acting Sergeant-Major in oharge of the Papatoetoe Cadets. The late Private Havill was an engineer by trade, having served his apprenticeship with Messrs Fraser and Bons, Auckland.
