SUCCESSFUL "AT HOME."
Under the auspices of the Pukekolie Branch of the Women's Patriotic League a very successful "At Home" was held in the Premier Hall on Saturday last. The object was to raise funds for Dr. Banardo's Homes and the result was gratifying: in every way. The Committee desire to express their thanks for all who contributed to such a successful function A wellarranged programme was presented as follows : —Pianoforte solos : Mrs J. Wylie and the Misses Taylor and Webb ; instrumental duets : Mrs Rogers and Miss O'Connor, Miss and Master Fitness ; recitation: Miss Lulu O'Connor " Soldier Mother's Half -a - crown " and " A Soldiers' Kiss songs : Miss A Muir, " Sunshine of Your Smile " and as an encore " Coming Home " and " King's Own " ; Mrs Martin, " Scots Wha Hae " (encore) " Corniu' Thro the Rye" ; Mrs Jas. Wylie, " Only a Flower " ; Mrs Mason, " Aschoo at Her Lattice." Miss Ivy Brown played the accompaniments. Sco'cli Dancing, Miss H. Blake and Master Cyril Maxwell. This dancing was highly appreciated by ail. Afternoon tea was served and much appreciated by the audience, the eatables being supplied by the members of the League
During the interval appropriate addresses were given by the Revs J. P. Cowie and J. F. Martin on the work of Dr Banardo's Home, special mention being made of the care taken by the Home of soldiers' clulil -en. Altogether these addresses wore stimulating and showed that the Home deserved every support. The attendance was good and the financial result satisfactory. The singing of the National Anthem brought the afternoon's function to a close.
