ONEWHERO.
FAREWELL SOCIAL. There was a large attendance at the Farewell Social held on Friday last in honour of Gunners A. and L. Logan and Private Rapson, who are shortly leaving for tho Front, and the number of local friends and visitors who took part in tho evening's entertainment served to indicate the respect in which " the boys" are held. Cr D. Moore proved an able chairman. The programme was as follows Miss A. Revell ; duet, Misses Foulkes and Hyde ; song, Mr Parsons ; recitation, Miss E. Blade; song, Miss Oliver; recitation, Miss U. Blade ;.song, Rev Lutterworth ; song, Miss Foulkes ; song, Mr Pirret ; song, Mr J. H. Quinlan ; song, Mr J. liogeis ; song, Miss Hyde; trio, the Misses Blade. Accompanists, the Misses Mayall, Butterworth and Foulkes. During the evening Mr E. ColeBaker, in a fitting and well-reasoned speech, referred to the departing guests as being splendid types of young manhood and he paid a high tribute to their parents, who were old and highly-respected settlers of the district. The speaker referred to the one common object of the Allies, namely, to overcome the Huns. All, he said, should realise their responsibilities and those left behind should by a colossal effort do their utmost to bring about a complete and lasting victory, When the iloor was cleared dancing was freely indulged in until the early hours of the morning, the dance nmsic being provided by the Misses Crawford and Oliver and Mr H. Crawford (violin).
