SCHOOL COMMITTEE MEETING The monthly meeting of the School Committee was held last Monday. Present: Messrs Jas. Hunter (in the chair), Gladding, Dilworth, Haddock, Hamilton and Hall. Mr Coles, builder, attended and stated that he had waited on the Education Board's architect (Mr Farrell) who had authorised him to go ahead with the erectien of the bicycle shed and coal house, Mr Farrell promising to ask the Education Board for a further grant.— The Committee decided to go on with the building, on the plan submitted by Mr Coles, at a cost of £4l 10s. The secretary reported that sixteen applications had been received for the position of caretaker of the School and after due consideration Mr Dilworth proposed and Mr Gladding seconded that Mr Geddis should be appointed.—This was carried. Accounts passed for payment totalled £6 Is. Mr Haddock reported that 36 dele] gates had attended the School Conference at Henderson and that a small committee was formed to go into the matter of improving school method., it being arranged that another conforence would be held in Newton East School on or about July Bth.—Messrs Haddock and Dilworth were appointed to attond the conference. It was decided that the private hedges should be cleaned on Station Koad. As nothing further had been heard from the Clerk of the Manukau County Council re the horse I paddock it was decided that the secretary (Mr Haddock) should wait on that official. Owing to the incraased cost of stationery it was resolved to order one quarter's supply, in the meantime enquiries to be made and the whole mitter of stationery and supplies to be considered at next committee meeting. The secretary was instructed to approach the .Education Board re Insurance policy for the caretaker and if committee was responsible a policy was to be taken out to cover accidents
