MANGERE EAST.
Tin first of a series of progressive euchre pa: ties and musical evenings was held at Mrs Walter Massey's residence on Tuesday evening of last week and proved a huge success. The evening, bringing all that could be desired, a large party of Mr and Mrs Massey's friends assembled. Tho euchre tournament provided a very close finish, Mrs llenwood winning the ladies prize, and Master A. llenwood tho men's prize One shilling each was paid into a bix by the guests and this is to bo given over a: the end of the season to the lied Cross or some other equally deserving cause. Every item en the musical programme was much eujoyod. Amongst those present wero Mr and Mrs Soloman and Miss Soloman, Mr and Mrs Kenwood, Mr and Mrs Scouii, Mr and Mrs Fiest, Mr and Mrs 1). Kay, Mr and Mrs Coglan, Miss Tims, Mr and Mrs Greouwood, and Mr Ilollier and other visitors from town. The next evening will bo hold at Mr Ilollior'a residence, and it is to be hoped that the night will bo as good as that of last Tuesday.
