[The Tuakau Supply Store, Ltd., are now the local agents for the "limes" and copies of the paper are obtainable at their premises. ] TUAKAU TOWN BOARD The monthly meeting of tho Tuakau Town Board was held on Tuesday last when there were present Messrs Dynes Fulton, W. 0. Graham, W. Perrit, W. Barnaby, and Capt Kyder, with the Clerk (Mr A. H. Tapper), BUILDING DISPUTE SETTLED The Chairman reported that as the result of his interview with the Board's solicitor and engineer relative to the Board's dispute with the Rev L Foulkes with rogard to a building that gentleman proposed erecting, he (the Chairman) had since interviewed the Rev Foulkes and had amicably settled the dispute. A letter was read from the Rev Foulkes confirming tho settlement arrived at. Capt Ryder and other members expressed their pleasure that the dispute had been amicably settled without recourse to legal proceedings. DOMINION ROAD Mr P. Lockery wrote complaining of the state of the Dominion road opposite to his property and asked for some scoria to be placed on the road for about two chains. Mr W. Glasgow also wrote drawing attention to the state of the footpath in the same road. The Chairman explained that the sta'e i.f the road and footpath was due to the driving of cattle over the road which could not be avoided as there was no other outlet. ' On the proposition of the Chairman it was resolved that the Works Committee inspect the road and report. capt. ryder's road The Board's Engineer (Mr J. Routly) wrote reporting that the work contracted for on this road had not been completed owing to the heavy rains. The report was received. ELECTRIC LIOIIT Messrs John Chambers and Sons, Ltd., Auckland, wrote that they understood tho Board contemplated carrying out an electric light scheme and if so they would be pleased to submit quotations for the work. It was resolved to reply that the Board did not contemplate such a scheme at present. Mr Pirret humourously remarked "it may be we contemplate the scheme, but are not likely to do the work just yet." TEMPORARY rnOTOGRAI'HIC STUDIO Mr Charles Mariboe, who stated he was a Dane, attended and asked permissi.n to erect a temporary photographic studio at the rear of Mr Mustard's paddock. A rough plan was submitted and after considering same it was agreed to grant a permit to erect the studio on the usual terms and conditions. runLio ii.u.i,. Mr Tapper, Inspector, reported that tho sanitary conditions provided at tho Hall were in every way satisfactory and that the necessary regulations with regard to the opening of the doors had now been complied with. It was resolved that the license should be granted to Mr George Revoll the owner of the building. TRAIN CURTAILMENTS. The chairman drew attention to the unsatisfactory train service between Auckland and Tuakau by reason of the fact that the last train left Auckland at .3.30 and as many farmers and business men were unable to leave for town until the midday train there was not sufficient time to transact lousiness and return the same evening. On a motion of the Chairman seconded by Mr Graham the Clerk was instructed to local authorities with a view to securing their cooperation so that the Railway Department could be induced to provide a train leaving Auckland about 5 o'clock each day. MILLIARD SALOON, Tho Chairman reported that he had, in conjunction with the Clerk, inspected these premises and found that the yard was in a filthy condition and that the conveniences were unsatisfactory. It was resolved that the Clerk should write to Mr Foley (tho owner) and Mr E. Matete (ihe license) giving them notice that the license would be withheld and the saloon closed after tho -'soth June unless tho premises wero put in a more sanitary condition. ACCOUNTS. Accounts amounting to £l2l 17s 9d were passed for payment.
