MERCER
(See also page 1.) There was a large and appreciative audience present at the concert arranged by the School Committee on Friday last, over which Mr H* Bilderbeck presided. The object of the gathering was to raise sufficient money to repay the balance owing on the Honors Board account, any surplus to be utilised towards providing for a mantelpiece and cupboard to add to the general appearance of the corner in the Public Hall where the board has been erected. This, as the result of the success of the evening concert, will now be done, thanks to the excellent programme presented. Mr C. T. Edwards, as honorary secretary, is to be congratulated on his efforts in training the school children and also on tho exhibition of photos of local "boys" serving at the front which were screened.
