PUKEKAWA.

Notwithstanding the inclement weather there was a good congregation present at the opening service on Sunday afternoon last at the new undenominational Hall. For a long time services have been held by the various denominations in the schoolroom and the new building will therefore meet a long felt want. The Rev. W. Butterworth of the Tuakau Presbyterian Church preached an appropiate sermon and special hymns were sung, Mrs Oswald Brewster acting as organist. In connection with the services the first baptism in this building was performed by the Rev. Butterworth when he baptised the infant daughter of Mr and Mrs George Chapman of Pukekawa. A collection was taken up at the services on behalf of the Manurewa Orphanage.
