PUNI SCHOOL COMMITTEE

'To the Editok] Sir—Your correspondent "Interested," writing in your last issue in reference to the recent Puni School Committee election and also in regard to the published financial report of the Puni School Committee in office prior to April 30th should not be afraid to sign to his epistle, especially as he writes on a subject of public interest and m ikes a charge against the old committee of publishing a false statement The letter is a great effort and the writer deserves credit. The fine spirit prompting the writing of the letter is proven as the writer makes a statement he cannot substantiate ; thus no signature Sheltering behind the mask of anonymity a characterestic "gas" attack is launched in an effort to stir up further ill-will in our little community. It has evidently never occurred to this fine and amiable specimen of the ''genus homo" that elections can be conducted and "tickets" run withou f such tickets bring the nominees oi any party or faction. But the reasoning powers of your valiant correspondent transcend all human understanding.

In reference to the statement that the report appearing in the "Times" prior to the election was of a misleading nature in regard to finance, we are prppared to pay into the Scho-1 account the sum a? shown as bal nice at Bank in the published report if such balance is incorrest. The only trifling condition we attach to this offer is that "Interested" shall forfeit a like amount and pay the same into the School account should he be unable to prove his statements. Thi? should serve the double purpose of settling the finance argument and of dragging 'lnterested" out of his lair. \Ve are Sir, not afraid to sign our names. Yours, etc., J. B. NICHOLLS, JOS LANPON, W. PJJEECE.
