Jacques Raiman. the French soldier who was wounded at the Battle of tho -Maine, and who is now gradually awakening from a sleep of twenty-nino months duration, apparently holds tho world s record as a sleeper. Tho next l>est woudl seem to belong to I ietro Maccalo, a young Sicilian who tell asleep on August Bth, 1914. and did not wake until March 6th, 1915 a period of seven months, less two dars His prolonged slumber followed hard on a drunken carouse, in the cwurse of which lie is said to hare sustained somo injury to the head. He eventually completely recovered, nowever, and" when last-heard of was fignting the 011 the Trentino front.
