RETURNS OF LAND HELD

It has hitherto been the custom of the Taxing Department to forward to all land owners forms to be filled in with particulars of land held, but this year marks a new departure. Recent legislation has cast upon the owners of land the onus of procuring forms for themselves, and failure to do so may be punished by the imposition of substantial penalties. Forms are obtainable at any Moneyorder post-office. The returns were really due to be forwarded by the first of May, but in view of the fact that this is the first year of a new departure it is probable that those who have from ignorance of the Department's requirements neglected to furnish them will not be proceeded against if they hasten to supply the omission.
