(Bee also Page 4.) ANZAO DAY CELEBRATION. Despite the heavy and continuous rain, a large congregation vras present at the Anzac Memorial Bervice conducted bv the Vicar, the Rev. W. L. Woods, at the Papakura Anglican Church last Monday. In addition to Town Board members, most of the business men and employees joined in paying their tribute to the memory of the Anzacs. and so that the_ employees could be present, the business places were closed for two hours to enable all to attend. The members of the local Rifle Club were also well represented. ■. The Vicar delivered a stirring ana impressive address on " Imperialism, and in touching words reminded all of those who had laid down their lives in the cause of riehteousness ana freedom for the sake of the Empire to which thev all belonged. The Vicar urged everyone to be ever mindful of the sense of duty and self-sacrifice, to revere the memory of those whose r-raves dot the landscape of GalUpoli and Flanders. In this connection the preacher appealed to all to assist, in erectine a tablet in their Parish Church in honour of those New Zealanders who had fallen, so that sonae permanent memorial would remind the future men and women of the noble deeds of sacrifice performed by the New Zealand soldiers. The address throughout was listened to with rapt attention.
