AUCKLAND WOMEN'S PATRIOTIC LEAGUE.
PUKEKOHE BRANCH. A meeting of the Executive Committee of the Pukekohe Branch of the Women's Patriotic League was held in the Borough Council rooms on Wednesday, April 11th. Present: Miss Webster (in the chair), Mesdames Mcßae, Hogan, Baxter, Misses Graham and Usher. Apologies were received from Mesdames Stuart, Webb and Motion. A letter was received from Miss Spedding, secretary of the Auckland League, acknowledging the receipt of two cases of hooks, two parcels knitted goods, and 50 hussifs. A letter was read from Mrs. Gunson, the Auckland president, Intimating that Mr. H. M. Smeeton intended visiting the different centres to lecture on the good work being done in France and elsewhere by the Y.M.C.A. Mrs Gunson alluded to the need of money to enable this splendid body to carry on their noble work, and said Mr. Smeeton would visit Pukekdhe at an early date to give an address, providing 'arrangements could he mndo. The Mayor and the town clerk had the matter in band, and the league was asked to co-operate and help in any way possible. It was agreed the same to be done.
The following new members were duly elected, viz.:—Mrs. Dillon and Miss A. O'Connor. Accounts to the amount of £l3 183 8d were passed for payment. The following donations were receceived: —Miss Kennelly, 10s for wool; Miss W. Webster, 7s 6d for general fund. The president reported having received 279 Dominion gift parcel for last month, and also that 32 acknowledgments had been received by the last moil from soldiers who had received the parcels, and all expressed their gratefulness and high •appreciation of the contents. The president, on behalf of Mrs. Stuart, convenor of the Literature Committee, reported having packed and sent to Auckland the monthly box of hooks, thanks being extended to one and all who had from time to time left books, etc., in the, Borough Council rooms. j Miss Usher, convenor of the Sewing Committee, reported having had made 50 hussifs, and same were despatched to Auckland. It was also reported that 50 sanitary shirts had been distributed among .various workers to be made tip. Mr 3. Baxter, convenor of the Knitting Committee, reported having sent to Auckland one large parcel containing 20 caps. 6 scarves, 21 pairs sox, and 4 pairs mittens. The convenor applied for £7 7s for the purchase of wool for next month's working. Mid the same was granted. The following is a list of wolkers:— Caps—Mesdames W. Blake.. Crum, Hovey. Sox—Mesdames McDonald (Puni), Moore, Baxter, 2 pairs each; Mcßae, Robertson, (Puni), Cooper, Preston (Puni). Irwin (Puni). Robinson, E. Stevenson. Fox (Rama Rama). Harvie. Crosbie (Puni), McWatt (Puni), Misses Webster. Snell [Puni), Fawcett, M. Hay (Ponsonbv). Scarves—Mis. G. Brown (2), J. J.' Hart. Misses D. Roberts (Puni), Wilson, Vera Kimber, one each. Mittens—Mrs. Cowperwaite (Mt. Eden), 4 pairs.
