Without proper means being taken to grow wheat there is every prospect of a shortage which the Dominion may not be able to fill from outside sources. FRANKLIN COUNTY COUNCIL Adjusting Representation in the Council. NOTICE is hereby given that at a Special Meeting of the Franklin County Council, held on Thursday, the Ist day of March, 1917, a resolution was passed in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on the Council by Section 23 of the Counties Act, 1908, revoking the iresent division of the County of 'ranklm into eight Ridings and in lieu thereof dividing the said County into nine Hidings to be calledi respectively Awhitu Biding, Waipipi Riding, Wa'uku Biding, Mauku Biding, Pukekohe West Biding, Pukekohe Eist Biding, Mercer Biding, Drury Biding and Hunua Biding and providing that the caid Franklin County Council shall consist of nine members and thai each Biding shall elect one Councillor, the alterations proposed to take effect on and after the 23rd day of October, 1917, and such resolution will be submitted for confirmation, as a Special Order, at the ordinary meeting of the Council to be held on Thursday, the 3rd day of May, 1917, at the Council Chambers, Hall street, Pukekohe. A copy of the .proposed Bpecial Order and a map showing the new riding boundaries is deposited at the Office of the Council and will be open to the inspection of the public during office hours from the 11th day of April, 1917, until the 2nd day of May, 1917. In view of the necessity to conserve the Railway Coal Stocks a drastic curtailment of passenger and goods train services will be brought into operation (if the coal strike still continues) on MONDAY, 23rd April, 1917. The travelling public are strongly urged to avail themselves of the opportunity permitted by the cout'nuation of the present full seivice to complete contemplated journeys be* fore Sunday, 22nd April, as after that date, and until further notice, travelling facilities will be strictly limited to the harest necessities'. Booklets containing particulars of the proposed timetable will be obtainable at all stations at an early date. The goods services will be limited strictly to the absolute minimum required to provision the different localities. The traffic to be carried will be limited to general merchandise, foodstuffs, perishable aiticles, firewood, mining props, chaff, wool for shipment, livestock required, •hooks for fruit, butter and cheese boxes, coal, coke and na'ural manures.
