The efforts of the Papatoetoe Road Board to make Papatoetoe a veritable, garden suburb of the city of Auckland are most praiseworthy and deserve every encouragement from all owners and every resident. With its convenient train service and being situated only some tea miles out of Auckland Papatoetoe has eminent advantages as a desirable place of residence for the busy city man who after the cares and worries of commercial duties wishes to take advantage of the congenial and healthful surroundings of a country home. But in this the twentieth century, householders look to the controlling local authority to provilo modern conditions that appertain to ..no's c'mfoit. qualities and with that idea the Town Board have initiated a Beautifying Scheme, in which tree planting is a leading factor. The proposal is to transform bare roads as they exist at present into picturesque avenues and towards that end owners are invited by the Board to make a gift of trees of a suitable kind, the Board undertaking to carry out the planting of the same.
