MAUKU
A resident of the Mauku district called at this office yesterday to express his disagreement with the remarks made by our travelling correspondent a week or two ago about the extent 10 which blackberries and rabbits aro overrunning Mauku. He informs us that rabbits aro certainly no more plentiful than they have been at any time during the last twenty years, and are not likely to be a serious trouble at any time as the soil is not suitable for burrowing. He also states that with the exception of a very few places the district is remarkably free from noxious weeds, and in that respect compares favourably with most places in tho county.
