MANUREWA TOWN BOARD. At the last meeting of the Town Board there were present Messrs T. J. Corin (chairman), G and C. Coxhead, Lupton, E. Pegler, with the acting clerk (Mr T. W. Bell). MEETINGS FN HALI.. On the motion of the Chairnnn the resolution passed at the previous meeting that future meetings of the Board be held in the Public Hall be rescinded. GREAT SOUTH ROAD. It was resolved, on the motion of Mr Lupton that the Council should be asked to take over the portion of the road from the Great South Road to the new bridge including that portion of Weymouth road from the Great South Road past the Creamery to the junction of the Station and Weymouth road. THE CLERK. As the result of correspondence from the Auditor-General on the subject of the resolution adopted at a special meeting giving leave of absence and pay to the clerk (Mr A. G. Mabee) a motion, proposed by the chairman, and seconded by Mr C. Coxhead, was formally passed resolving that the clerk be granted leave of absence for three months on full pay. —Mr Lupton voted against the motion while Mr Pegler refrained from recording his vote on the subject. PURIRI PARK ESTATE. The Surveyor (Mr Martin) submitted plans and specifications of proposed roads on this estate in the Town Board area and these were approved. HILL AND VALLEY ROADS. On the motion of the Chairman it was resolved that application to the County be made for shingle on the footpath from Hill road to the Valley road. basley's road. The County Council having written to the Board relative to the overflow of water from Basley's road to the County road it was resolved that nine inch pipes be laid at the junction of Basley and Valley roads on the eastern side. ORrHAN HOME. In accordance with the legal advice given by Mr Martin (as advisor to the Local Bodies Association) it was resolved that the Board could grant exemption of rates to the Orphan Home for only four acres The clerk was instructed to communicate with the Secretary to this effect. FOOTPATH EXPENDITURE. Mr Lupton, in pursuance of his notice of motion, moved, and Mr Pegler, seconded that the sum of £IOO be spent on footpaths and that the Works Committee present a report at the next meeting. An amendment proposed by the Chairman seconded by Mr G. Coxhead that £IOO be spent in the district and the allocation of the amount to different paths be left in the hands of the Works Committee, with power to put the work in hand, was, however, carried. There was a good attendance at the Harvest Festival Services held in connection with the Methodist Church recently, when the Rev. W. S. Potter was the preacher both morning and evening. The Church was artistically decorated by ladies of the congregation. On the Monday following, an entertainment took place, in which the scholars from the Children's Home took a prominent part. The following also contributed to the programme, viz , Miss Freshney solo, Mr Samuel Craig, song (encored), choruses, duet and trios by children from tho Manurewa Home and recitations by Mr H. V. Burton. At the close the produce was dutch-auctioned by Mr H. V. Burton, the proceeds realised being devoted to the Circuit Fund. The newly appointed Minister (the Rev T. F. Jones) will occupy the pulpit for the first time on Sunday morning the 22nd April.
