CLEVEDON.

There were good congregations at both services at All Souls Church on Sunday last on the occasion of the Harvest Festival. Mr A. E. Bailey, Lay Reader, preached in the morning, the pulpit being occupied in the evening by the Vicar, the Rev. W, C. Wood, who preached an excellent sermon which was listened to with rapt attention. The vegetables, fruit, and other produce, of which there was a fine collection, were subsequently sent to various charitable organisations in Auckland for distiibution. Many friends around Clevedon and the district will be sorry to learn that Mr L. Holloway, storekeeper, who has been away at Morrinsville on account of ill-health is still on the sick list. It is feared that he will have to undergo an operation shortly At the Sheep Fair held last Monday by Messrs Alfred Buckland and Son there was a full yarding and prices were firm. Good wethers made from 33s to 365, small twotooth wethers 29s to 32s 6d, fresh full-mouthed ewes 30s to 35s 6d, older ewes 24s to 275, best woolly store lambs 21s to 23s 6d, smaller woolly lambs 18s to £1 and be3t shorn lambs 19s to 21s 9d. Altogether there were about 2000 head penned. There was a good attendance of buyers from various parts of the Waikato.

The petition for an improved water supply in course of signature by residents throughout the district is being extensively supported. Owing to the sheep fair being in progress last Monday the usual monthly me?ting of the Wairoa Road Board was postponed until yesterday.
