MAUKU.
Mr \V. M. Barton who took charge of the Presbyterian Church in this district at tho beginning of the year, is doing good work thioughout the urea under his supervision and his pastoral visitations amongst the people are helpful, stimulating and highly appreciated. At Mauku he has started a Bible Class for all over 13 years. Iu connection with this ho is also arranging the formation of a Committee to organise socials. In these country districts social gatherings are welcomed. Mr Barton is having an influence for good iu this widely scattered area. Farms throughout the district aro looking exceptionally well for tho time of the year. Maize is sliov ing a good crop and tho grass is looking well. Unfortunately rabbits aro increasing everywhere and unless stringent steps aro taken they will cause serious havoc to gardens and tho crops. Blackberries aro on tho iucreaso and it is to be regretted tho scytho or spraying apparatus are not much iu evidouco.
