Pukekohe Borough Council
i TO THE EDITOR.] Sir, —An advertisement recently appeared in your columns from the Pukekohe Borough Council, calling for applications for the petition of Building and Sanitary Inspector. As required by the Act the Bani f ary Inspector must ba " a registered plumber or the holder of a certificate from the Royal Sanitary Institute" lam the only person holding either of these qualifications in this district and I applied for the appointment in order to help the Council out of the difficulty. Before the selection took place, however, I was informed by a member of the Council that he would oppose me " right out " as my appointment would be unfair to any " opponent " in business and that Pukekohe did not need such a qualified person as myself. As the Council as a body hare apparently supported the Councillor referred to in his opposition to me I think it only right that the electors should be informed as to the illegality of the appointment made I am, etc.,
