CLEVEDON.

As one passes along the road from Papakura to llevedon signs are not wanting that the recent floods around C'leveion had serious effects. Around the district too many culvertß and drains h9ve been allowed to become choked with weeds ani it is more than probable that before long drastic steps will have to be taken by the loc-1 authority to compel owners of land to keep their portions of eulverts free so that water can travel to the main drains freely. It is often urged—and there n much truth in the assertion—that good labour ia scarce, but a few hours spent in keeping the culvert free from weeds will not only improve the respective prop°rties but will lighten the burden of others whose lands are adjacent.
