TUAKAU.
The special meeting arranged to be held on Tuesday last by the Town Board to consider sanitary and building by-laws was postponed iudefinitely to await the report from the engineer with regard to building by-laws. There was a good attendance at the euchre party and dance on Tuesday last in aid of the Dominion Gift Fund. Ono noticeable feature in connection with this and other dances was the absence of young men. These lads are, however, doing their duty at the front and parents, though far away, are able both to receive and send letters to the lads which forms some link to those in the trenches. Tuakau is to be congratulated for its sustained efforts in allievating the suffering of, and providing comforts for the soldier boys. Mr Henry Madill has been confined to his bed for a few days. It appears that when on a holiday trip he partook of some food which resulted in ptomaine poisoning. He is progressing well and hopes to join the military camp next April, having enlisted some time ago but could not be accepted, being then under age.
Mr W. Glasgow is we are glad to learn slowly progressing.
