Lewis is the hon. secretary. Proceeds are to be d.votid to the Muslin Vest Fend. Une lady is responsible for providing 50 muslin vests each month, Mrs Lewis being responsible for this month. The Horticultural Show, arranged for the 31 Bt January, has been postponed until the following Wednesday, the 7th February. Fur.ther particulars will be announced later. Alterations and enlargements are being made lo the Presbyterian Manse, the contractors for the work being Messrs Woodbridge and Son. A surprise party callei on Mr and Mrs Alfred Turner, a recently happy married couple of Tuakau, on Thursday evening last. Hiring Lapwoori's 'bus the merry company on pleasure bent collected all their human resources of Tuakau, which numbered about 18. The party, on arriving at Mr Turner's residence, enlivened the proceedings by numerous songs and musical items, the ladies providing the eatables. It was a surprise indeed, aid the youthful spirit of the adventurer and adventuress into the wellfurnished abode of the peaceful pair, while for the moment disturbing the couple under the exilirating spirits of the band ot smiling laces winch created quite a favourable impression on the recipients. All good things were said to make Mr and Mrs Turner realise that they hed many staunch friends in l'uakau.
