MANUREWA.

In view of the fact that the objeci tion taken by Mr Lupton at last week's meeting of the Manurewa Town Board as to the business transacted at a special meeting held on December 7th may lead to some misapprehension, we are asked to state that at the previous ordinary meeting on November 30th it was arranged that a special meeting should be convened for the purpose of receiving the Government Auditor's report ou the completion of an audit so that Mr A. G. Mabee, the clerk, could be released from duty to enable him to leave Manurewa for the training camp. The books were only returned by the Auditor on Saturday, December 2nd, and on that day Mr Mabee, who was due to depart for the training camp on Sunday, December 10th, sent out notices for a meeting to beheld on Thursday, December 7th. Mr Luptoi attended the »eeting and then raised no protest in regard to a full seven days' notice of the meeting not having been given nor did he object to the business transacted, which was the reception of the Auditor's report and the adoption of a resolution granting Mr Mabee three months' leave of absence on full pay (£10). Mr Mabee's departure for camp, it may be explained, was subsequently postponed in accordance with military instructions but he entered camp last Wednesday. Mrs Archdale Tayler, a lady of considerable musical' ability and who will be sorely missed in the district, has sold her property to Mr Frank Bayly, a well-known Waikato farmer. Mr Ben Gothorp has disposed of his Manurewa and city properties, and has purchased what is known as Hansen's farm at Brookby. Messrs Bartlett (photographer), Duncan (valuer), Mitchell (Lands Department) and Duncan [ traffic inspector Auckland railways), all prominent city business men, have purchased choice sections on the Totara Park estate. It is the intention of all to reside in Manurewa when the roads are completed. Mr Arthur Woods, of Cabbage Bay, has purchased Mr Wallan's property on the Valley road and intends to make his homo there. These sales and purchases have beeli effected through the local agency of Mr Enos Pegler.
