STOCK SALE REPORT.

Messrs Alfred Buckland and Sons report:— On Wednesday, at our weekly Westfield fat stock market, we sold fat cattle to the number of 326 head comprising 202 steers, 119 cows and heifers and 5 bulls. There was a strong demand throughout, with values on a par with those quoted prior to the holidays. Choice ox sold to £2 10s per 1001b, prime £2 7s to £2 9s, plain and rough £2 to £2 ss, cow and heifer beef £l 17s to £2 7s; steers ranged in price from £l4 to £22 ss, cows and heifers £9 to £l6 15s. Young and fat calves were penned in less than average numbers and sold at slightly under last gale's extreme values. Runners brought from £8 10s to £ll 2s 6d; heavy vealers £5 Us to £6 15s, medium £3 19s to £5 ss, lighter £3 Is to £3 15s, light £2 7s to £2 18s, small and fresh-dropped 14a to £2, weak and inferior 5s to 10s. (54 sold). There was a very small yarding of pigs, which met with a sharp rise in values. Choppers to £5 ss, heavy baconers £3 9s to £4 Bs, others £2 15s to £3 ss, large porkers £2 8s to £2 17s, medium £2 3s to £2 6s, others £l 19s to £2 2r, slips £1 78 to £l 10, weaners £1 3s 6d to £1 6s. (83 sold). The sheep pens were fairly well filled, but the greater number were of ordinary quality. Competition was very keen, and prices for prime sheep were firmer. Extra heavy prime wethers £l 19s to £2 0s 3d, heavy prime £1 16s 6d to £1 18s 9d, light to heavy £1 14s to £1 16s, unfinished £1 10s to £l lis, best heavy prime ewes £1 Ma to £1 17s, good £l 8s 6d to £1 13s, others £1 5s to £1 Bs, hoggets £1 8s to £1 14s.
