TUAKAU.
At the Pukekohe Magistrate's Court on Thursday of last week the claim was heard of J. H. Claridge, printer, late of Otorohanga, v F. W. Mountjoy, of Pukekohe, for £3 9s in respect of printing executed, etc. There was a counter-claim of £2 2s professional fees for plans prepared by Mr Mountjoy. Mr F. W. Shortland appeared for Mr Claridge and Mr C. O Mahony represented Mr Mountjoy. Both claims were taken together and ultimately the Magistrate (Mr F. V. Frazer) gave judgment for Mr Claridge for £2 inclusive of £1 10s paid into Court, each party to pay their own costs. In delightful weather Mr G. Revell and family carried out their annual picnic function on their farm on Boxing Day when residents of the district were present in good numbers The brothers Lee, who are now on their final leave from Trentham, joined the company. Altogether a very enjoyable social time was spent. Tuakau folks are looking forward to the Show and Garden Fete to be held on Wednesday the 31st January. From the schedules there appear to be indications of keen competition. Mr P. Lewis is the hon. secretary. Private Chas. Lapwood is borne on final leave.
We regret to announce the death of Nurse Allen which took place at % the Auckland hospital last Friday. The deceased lady, who was 49 years of age, was a resident of Tuakau and had a large number-of friends in the district.
\ The Women's Patriotic League are arranging a concert for the end of January as a wind up of the season.
