BUCKLAND.
A start towards furnishing the Christmas Tree to be held at the Fukekohe Angli an Church Roce Show on December 7th and Bth was mado on November 17th when a sift evening was given by the Ladies' Guild in the Buckland Hal', Sir H. Todd occupying the chair. It was explained that the Bucklat d congregation had agreed to assist the Pukekohe church-people at the exhibition, an arrangement having been made that part of the proceeds was to be credited to the Buc'dand Church The following assisted in the musical programme Mrs llewitt, Misses Davy and Bullcck, Messrs Walker and Souster. Donations in cash amounted to over £3 whi'st 87 gifts were brought. Several of the gifts, being too valuable for the Xmas tree, were given as prizes for competitions. A dress worked and presented by Mrs fl. H. D. Wily brought £1 3s. A cu-hion and table cover presented and worked by Mrs £. Appleby, realised 19s and 14 s . In spite of a small attendance a veiy pleasant evening was pat sad. Mrs Davy presided at the piano and Mr Wily was M.C. Mr E. Yates, of Auckland, kindly foi warded a guinea towards the funds.
