PAPAKURA.
(See also page 1.) The Parish Hall held a large assembly on Friday evening last, when a farewell was tendered to Privates J. Smythe, Geo. Busbie and R. Grant of the 20th Reinforcements who were home on iinal leavj. The function took the form of a social and dance and during the proceedings Mr P. Holt, as chairman, handed to each of the soldiers a safety razor. Speeches were delivered by the chairman and Messrs A. Willis, E. 8. Cole and E. D. McLennan. For the dance Mrs H. Walters acted as pianist and Mr O. Tuely as M.C , while musical items were rendered during the evening bv Miss L. Mack and Mr T. Seaton. On Wednesday, the 29th inst., the Manurewa Musical Society are to produce il Trial by J ,,r y . e Papakura Methodist Sunday Schoolroom to assist patriotic fimdß.
