CLEVEDON.
PATRIOTIC FLOWER SHOW Unpeiturbed by the unfavourable atmospheric elements that gave signs of marring the Spring Flower Show arranged in aid of gifts for Clevedon *' boys " at the front the committee of ladies proceeded with the function in the Public Hall on Friday last, and with a fair attendance of the public the exhibition passed off most successfully. Considering recent weather conditions the committee were more than pleased with the admirable collection of exhibits that adorned the hall. The roses in particular, as well as the entries in the decorated table competition went to show that the competitors had gone to no little trouble to fulfill their obligations. In the cookery section for adults and the plasticence, brushwork, and essay writing and drawing ; classes for children, exceptional merit was evinced. On the whole the entries exceeded last year's total, consequently, with the extra extrance fees and no prizes be awarded a substantial sum should be realised. Dainty afternoon tea was dispensed by a committee of ladies whilst a produce stall full of a choice variety of donated articles was a hive of industry throughout. Thanks to the energies of Mrs B. Da we (honorary secretary), ably assisted by the Misses T. Alexander (cookery section); M. Wilson (vegetables, etc.); B. Brown (needlework, etc.); B. Murray and G. Fausett (children's exhibits), Mesdames W. Hyde, J. Alexander, and G. Lane and Misses S. Graham and Hyde (2) (tea room), and Mesdames P. S. Gee and Blake. and the Misses Fras6r and K. Munro 1 A comparison of the daily average quantity of cream forwarded to Frankton Junction from the Waikato Co-operative Dairy Co's. cream depot during the month of September of this year with the corresponding month of last year shows an increase of 300lbs, and for the present month it continues to increase. On Monday last the waggon left the depot for Papakura with two lbs under the 1500lbs and cn route 500lbs were picked up. Evidence of the heavy rains that have fallen over the district were to be seen on the flats on Friday last. In many instances the swollen waters of the creeks flooded the roads. A striking instance of this was to be seen in the front of Mr Ballard's property on the Clevedon-Papakura road.
The butter-fat competition in connection with the district's forthcoming show was decided on Friday last, and the result was to be declared on Saturday evening last by the Show Committee. Mr Hugh Munro did the testing. Entries received for the A. and P. Association's Show, to be held next Saturday, well outnumber last year's total, so the outlook is exceedingly promising. No less than 20 Holsteins have been entered for the Association's medal class, while in the dairy c'ass there are 16 entries. The old racecourse grandstand from Papakura is in course of erection on the showground, and should be available for use on show day.
