PATUMAHOE.

The coming of the railway as denoted by the arrival in the district of the engine engaged on ballasting operations on the Waiuku line is to be celebrated by a social to be held in the Patumahoe Hall on Friday evening of next week. The proceeds of the gathering are to be devoted to the purchase of souvenirs for presentation to local " boys " proceeding to the front. Messrs W. Howard and F. W. Eavanagh are organising the function and with their usual energy everything points to a most successful evening.
