WHANGARATA PATRIOTIC LEAGUE
On Tuesday, at the school, the members of the League marked and packed the month's work, ready to be forwarded to Mrs Parkes. The parcel contained 5 shirts, Meadames Donovan, J. Fulton, D. Fulton, Fraser and Rapson 1 each; 6 pyjamas, Mesdames Bu'.terworth 2, Ludwig, W. Smeed, T. Smeed, Kapson, 1 each; 10 handkerchiefs, hemmed by schoolgirls; and 9 pairs sox, Mesdames Ewing 2, Campbell, Coad, D. Fulton and Miss Hyde 1 each; Mrs Butterworth d mated 2 pairs and Mrs T. Smeed 1 pair The League thanks the under* mentioned school girls, who have hemmed the handkerhiefs each month, viz., Ivy Smeed, May Hayward, Doris Marx, Alice Ludwig, Nell Rapson and Mollie Rapson. The minutes of last meeting were read, also the report and balancesheet for the six months from Ist May to 31st October. During that time 03 shirts, 63 pyjamas, 71 handkerchiefs, 62 pairs sox, 60 small towels, and 60 small soap, 4 pairs bed sox, mittens, etc., were forwarded, also one small parcel to the Town Hall. The receipts were as follows: Balance in hand in May, £5 14s 5Jd; six months subscriptions, £ll 17s ; proceeds of 3 socials, £6 2s 6d; proceeds of 4 "At Homes," £2 14s Id; sale of oddments, 4s 3d ; donations, £l6 2s 1 Id ; total, £42 15s 2sd. The expenditure was : Cost of material, £3O 9s 2d: postages, 7s lOd ; expenses of euchres, £1 7s 7d; total, £32 4s 7d; leaving a balance in hand of £lO 10s 7Ad.
