BUCKLAND.
FARMERS' UNION MEETING. A meeting of the Buckland branch of the Farmers' Union was held in the Hall last Saturday evening. A large amount of correspondence was dealt with, and amongst other matters it was decided to make a collection of eggs for the Belgian Relief Fund this mouth As regards the Government's action in fixing the local price of buttor, the following resolution wus passed, and a copy of the same was oroVred to be sent to the member for Raglan, viz.: "That this meeting of farmers most emphatically protests against the unprecedented action of the Government in limiting the selling pike of butter on the local market 'aiw; l< the principal of taxing tho .vbol" «.i tho dairy farmers of th. cided to wiite to Mr Barugh, chair man of directors, to address the farmers on the subject and to fully explain the conditions. At the close of the meeting the secretary, Mr W. Jeffries announced his resignation as he had enlisted. The president moved a hearty vote of thanks to Mr W. Jeffries for the able and painstaking manner in which he had carried on the work for the last three years, and the motion was carried by acclamation.
