STOCK SALE REPORTS.
The N.Z. Loan and M.A. Co. report as follows: On Monday, at Patumahoe, we held a clearing sale on account of Mr D. McFadden. There was a large attendance, and we report a most successful sale. The dairy cows and heifers sold at from £8 to £lB ss; bulls sgnsto lOgns ; 2-year steers £9 ss; bullock £2O 7s 6d ; yearling heifers £6 10s; this season's calves, 5s to £1 12s; 5-year-old dray mare £4l 10s; colt £l3; pony £6; sow £6 15s; boar, 3-months, Berkshire. 6igns; slips £1 5s to £1 9s; fat ewes £3 8s; ram £3 ; ewes and lambs £2; milk cans £1 Is ; mowers £ls 10s and £l2 15s; drill £8 15s; discs, £2 15s.
Messrs Alfred Buckland and Sons report:— At Whangarata on Tuesday we held a clearance sale at Mr 0. E. Hay ward's. Buyers were in attendance, and satisfactory prices were obtained. The dairy cows sold at from £ls to £l6 ss; yearling to 18 months steers, £4 15s to £5 16s; heifers, same age, £4 8s to £5 12s; calves £3 6s to £3 10s; phaeton £2l.
On Wednesday, at our weekly Westfield fat stock market, choice ox sold to £2 10s, prime £2 6s 6d to £2 9s, rough and plain beef £1 14s to £2 ss; cows and heifers £2 to £2 6s. Steers ranged in price from £ll 17s 6d to £24 ss. Cows and heifers £8 5s to £l6 ss. The highest averages for steers included eight from Mr George Hull, Otaua, £l9 7s 10d ; eight trom Mrs E M Keid, Otaua, £l9 6s 3d; 11 from Mr F. Kelland, Waipipi, £l9 lis 2d.There was a small yarding of sheep, but the major portiou were well finished. Competition was spirited, and on the whole values wore in advance of last report. Extra heavy prime shorn wethers, £1 13a 6d to £1 16s; a truck of 60 from Mr James Taylor, Baidowie, Cambridge, averagei £1 15s Bd, the lot going to Mr Win Howard, Patumahue, heavy prime shorn £1 1 Is to £l 13s; lighter shorn wethers £1 8s to £1 10s; best heavy prime woolly wethers £2 4s to £2 6s, lighter woolly wethers £1 19s to £2 3s, other woolly wethers £1 14s to £1 18s; extra heavy prime shorn ewes£l lis to £l 14s 6d; good shorn ewes £l 8s to £1 10s; other shorn ewes £1 4s t o £l 7s; best woolly ewes, £1 18s 6dto£2 2s; lighter £1 158 to £l 17s e d; prime woolly hoggets, £l 12s to £1 16s (957 sold). Spring lambs, again short of requirements, realised high prices. Extra heavy £1 15s; two from Mr M. Costar, Manurewa, made £1 13s9d; good lambs £1 5s to £l 9s 6d, smaller £l 2s to £l. 4s 6d. (29 sold). There was an average entry of fat and young calves, and these maintained late high values. No runners yarded. Heavy vealers made from £5 to £6 17s 6d, medium £4 4s to £4 17s 6d, lighter £3 to £4, light £2 to £2 18.«, small 16s to £1 15s, fresh-dropped 5s to 15s. (72 sold). Pigs were yarded in average numbers. Porkers and weaners wore fully up to late values, but large baconers were a shade easier. No choppers yarded. Heavy baconers made from £3 18s to £4 9s, lighter JE3 lCs to £3 17s, light £3 3s to £3 9s, large porkers £2 16s to £3 2s, smaller £2 8s to £2 15s, small £2 to £2 7s ; slips £1 8s to £1 15s; weaners, 18s to £1 ss. ,186 sold.)
