PUKEKOHE FIRE BRIGADE.

Annual Competitions. The Pukekohe Fire Brigade held their annual competitions on Monday last (Labour Day), in Messrs Roulston Bros', paddock, the proceedings being watched with great interest by a fair gathering of the public. The men worked very keenly, and some exciting finishes were provided. The judging was very efficiently performed by Fireman Gilbert (Onehunga), Sec. Osborne (U.F.8.A.), Mr Wyatt and Mr J. F. Deane. The starter, Mr Hindman, got the men off the mark in his usual neat manner, and Secretary Thornton and Mr W. Wright were excellent timekeepers. An electrical timekeeper was also tried, and while it worked proved very efficient. The following were the results : One Man Event.—Fireman H. Short, 44sec, 1; Fireman W. Short, 46sec, 2; Secretary Bollinson, 48 1-5 sec, 3. Also competed—Fireman Wright 49sec, Captain Wood 50sec, Fireman Adams 53 2-5 sec, Messenger Maxwell 54sec, Foreman Brown 54 1-5 sec, Fireman Mitchell 58 3-5 sec, Fireman Walsh 60sec. One Man Championship.—Fireman W. Short, 72sec, 1; Fireman W. Adams, 79sec, 2; Captain Wood, 81sec, 3. Also competed—Foreman Brown 83 1-5 sec, Fireman H. Short 848 ec, Secretary Bollinson 85sec, Fireman Mitchell 91 sec, Fireman Wright 93 1-5 sec, Fireman Walsh 98861:, Messenger Maxwell 120 sec Two Men Flatl-Firemeu W. Short and Mitchell, 43 2-5 sec, 1; Firemen H Short and Wright, 47 4-5 sec, 2. Also competed—Firemen Adams and Walsh 48sec, Captain Woods and Fireman W. During the afternoon Fireman Gilbert, of Onehunga, gave an exhibition run of the one man championship, putting up tho splendid time of 61 1-5 sec.
