MARAMARUA.

ALLEGED ATTEMPTED SUICIDE. At the Auckland Police Court on October 18th John Faulkes (55) wa« convicted and ordered to come up for sentence when called upon on a charge of having attempted to commit suicide by cutting his throat at Maramarua. The police evidence showed that the defendant was found on September nth lying out in the open with a gash in his throat, and a razor near by. He was taken to Hamilton Hospital and the expenses amounted to £ls 3s. Residents of the district had noticed him behaving in a peculiar manner. Defendant said that he fell down a bank and when he woke up his throat was gashed. He had not been drinking. Defendant was ordered to pay the hospital expeneses.
