PAPAKURA.

At a meeting of the Fapakura Patriotic League held on Wednesday last and presided over by Mr A. Willis, the treasurer (Mrs A. Willis) reported having received from Mrs Shanaghan the sum of £2B 7s the nett proceeds of the plant sale recently held in the Parish Hall. The amount was received with thanks and the secretary was instructed to convey the League's appreciation of Mrs Shanaghan's efforts. It was decided to forward Christmas gifts to the •' boys "from this district on active service. As the result of an appeal from the Auckland Branch of the Red Cross Society it was agreed to donate £2O from the Emergency Fund and the £5 from the plant sale to the Red Cross Special Fund. On the chairman reporting that he had issued a permit to Mrs Mears to collect funds in connection with a gift sale she is to hold during December to assist the League's funds, members expressed their intention of assisting Mrs Mears in every way possible. Accounts totalling £l4 for assistance given to dependents of a man on active service were passed for payment. Relatives of " boys " on active service are invited to forward their full addresses to Mr Jas. Murray, care Messrs Willis Bros., the League's secretary, so that Christmas gifts can be forwarded to them.
