TENNIS.
The annual meeting of the Pukekohe Lawn Tennis Club was held on Friday last tho 13th October at Mr Hopkins' office. There was a fair attendance of members. A unique departure from all former precedents of the club and one in keeping with the spirit of the times was the exclusive election of ladies to all the offices. It is somewhat of a record that all the male members eligible for military service have at least offered their services to their country. The ladies have, however, risen to the occasion and in deciding to " carry on " have agreed to allow young players under the age of eighteen to become members at a subscription of ten shillings per annum.
The following officers were elected —President, Mrs Wake; vice-presi dent, Mrs L. J. Bayly; committee, Mrs Grigor, Mrs Motion, Miss Kiddell ; secretary and treasurer, Miss Middleton. Several new members were elected and the opening day was fixed for Saturday, October 28th, at 2 p.m. Anyone desirous of joining the club may communicate with the secretary at Mr Lysnar's rooms.
