TUAKAU.

Following on his recent inspection on behalf of the Board, of the water power in the district available for electric lighting purposes, Mr E. J. Fenn, cqnsulting electrical engineer, has reported to the Board as follows, viz.:—" As it is quite evident that much more water was flowing in both streams than would be flowing in the summer time it is quite impossible to gather sufficient data to warrant a dofinite report on the matter and therefore I beg to advise the Board to delay consideration of the matter till as late in the summer as possible. During the summer months I will take the opportunity at any odd time of getting off the train at Tuakau and noting the flow in the streams' The data already collected as to levels will enable me to work out the power. If you approve of this suggestion I would ask that you advise me as to what is the latest date when you would like to receive the report.—Mr Fenn's communication will receive the consideration of the Board at its next ordinary meeting. At the services in the different Churches on Sunday last special reference was made to fallen heroes. At the Presbyterian Church a large congregation being present, the Rev. Butterworth referred to Trooper Glasgow's death, while at the Anglican Church the Rev. L. Foulkes, taking for his text " Do

Not Weep," delivered a very impressive sermon, and Miss Foulkes sang the solo " He Wipes a Tear from Every Eye." During the service at the Eoman Catholic Church the Eev. Father O'Hara paid special tribute to the late Sergeant C. McGahan's gallantry. A statement of accounts for the months of July and September and an inventory of the articles made by the League for the past quarter was read by Mr Graham at the Patriotic League's gathering last Thursday, showing that at the end of September there was a credit balance of £6 6s lid and that during the quarter the following articles were made viz., 75 hussifs, 47 Dominion Gifts, 81 Christmas gifts, 100 pairs sox, 13 caps, 8 belts, 13 pairs mittens, 16 scarves, while four cases of books and lemons were forwarded to the Trentham Military camp.
